Farmer-Veteran Coalition

On June 30 at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, the Farmer-Veteran Coalition will hold its first Southern California Veterans' Food and Farming Career Fair where it will bring together U.S. military veterans and providers of jobs, training and education in the food, farming and agriculture fields from in and around Los Angeles. FVC is using a grant from Lewis to fund its media activities on the Web, including documentary photography and video.

When asked why he supports this organization Lewis said, "I think its an extraordinary way to help our soldiers make the transition back to being a civilian and I also believe in anything that helps out the small farmer.

The Farmer-Veteran Coalition seeks to help our returning veterans find employment, training and places to heal on America’s farms. Their mission is to mobilize food and farming communities to create healthy and viable futures for America’s veterans by enlisting their help to build a green economy, rebuild rural communities and secure a safe and healthy food supply. For more information or to donate, please see the Coalition website.
